Saturday Oct 19,2024 at 4pm EST | Course Link will be sent via email, one week prior
Led by Dr. Monica Jackman, an experienced occupational therapist, researcher, author and creator of the OpenMind Program, this course provides a deep dive into understanding the root causes of children's behaviors, particularly those influenced by trauma, learning disabilities, language impairments and sensory differences. Monica combines her extensive background in occupational therapy, behavioral and mental health, neurodivergence and trauma-informed care to guide participants through the process of uncovering the 'why' behind challenging behaviors.
In "Finding the Why," you'll learn how trauma, neurodivergence, sensory and learning differences, and common life challenges can impact a child's engagement and behavior. You will learn actionable, evidence-based strategies to support children in gaining awareness of their own bodies and minds, and in building resilience and achieving emotional well-being. This course is designed for caregivers, educators, and professionals seeking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children by addressing the core reasons behind their behaviors. Dr. Jackman’s unique approach, grounded in her OpenMind 5P framework, empowers you with the tools and insights needed to foster healing and long-term positive change.
By the end of this course, participants will leave with a deeper understanding of the “why” behind common challenging behaviors and will have learned actionable strategies help guide children through this discovery process.
