Meaningful Occupational Engagement Checklist and Self-Assessment

Engagement is different from compliance. It is full investment of oneself into activities, tasks that ware meaningful, beneficial or necessary (i.e., occupations). 7 factors that impact engagement and success include safety and security, comfort, motivation, ability to be present, choice and autonomy, connection, and advocacy. This includes both a self-assessment you can use with students who are able to complete rating scales, and also a checklist of factors for you to consider when examining a child's internal and external circumstances and environment.
