Screen time can offer entertainment, opportunities for connection, a source of information and exploration, a means of productivity, fun, and many other benefits. But too much screen time has been associated with reduced attention, difficulty regulating emotions, increased procrastination, and decreased engagement in other meaningful life activities. Screen time can impact task initiation and time management, dysregulate dopamine levels, and make everything else feel dull by comparison. This is a tool is designed for older kids, teenagers and adults as an alternative to taking away screen time or to punishment, to allow meaningful intrinsically motivated goals for screen time regulation.
